Uses for Coconut Oil

I've heard so much about coconut oil, I decided to give in and buy some. Oh my goodness, this stuff is amazing! I thought I'd make a list of things I use coconut oil for- P.s. I live in a dorm so no cooking is involved :)

  1. Oil PullingTake a spoonful of coconut oil, and for 10-15 minutes swish it around your mouth like mouth wash, then spit it out. This will help pull toxins out of your body and make your mouth feel clean.

  2. Make-up removerPut some coconut oil on a tissue and wipe off your makeup from the day

  3. Hair MaskApply coconut oil to hair until it's completely saturated, leave in for 20-50 minutes then wash out in the shower.

  4. Cuticle CreamRub some coconut oil around your nails to help them stay healthy and grow strong.

  5. Chap-stickPerfect for dry and cracking lips, can help your lips heal.

  6. Fade Acne ScarsApply coconut oil as a moisturizer over night to reduce acne and fade acne scars.

  7. Whiten TeethUse a mixture of coconut oil and hydrogen peroxide as mouthwash to help whiten your teeth.

  8. LotionUse on dry hands, elbows and knees to keep hydrated.

There are a ton of other uses for coconut oil, I buy mine at target for $7 per jar (14 FL OZ). I also add the oil to my tea to help boost my immune system and relieve sore throat. The oil is solid at room temperature, it's a similar constancy to butter but it smells amazing and doesn't have much of a taste. I highly recommend trying coconut oil for a few weeks, I promise you'll love it!

  2. You can also use it in cooking as a replacement for butter or other oil. I use virgin coconut oil as I feel there are greater benefits than in refined coconut oil. However, the KTC coconut oil is useful if on a budget. Let's face it, virgin raw cooconut oil is not cheap!

I'd never thought of using it as make-up remover, but then I am a bloke....

  3. I don't use it for cooking because I live in the Dorms at school and I don't have a kitchen. But I know there are about 2000 other uses for it in cooking (:
